Case Study 3
“At The Cost of Everything”
Our expertise lies in our ability to integrate ourselves into real people’s lives to understand their story
Josh Eppard, drummer for Coheed and Cambria, recounts his story of heroin addiction and recovery.
“Once we scratched the surface, we realized that Josh was so far away from heroin use and his life before he had recovered, that our film didn’t have a lot of drama.”
That drama came from one of Josh‘s longtime childhood friends, Jack Manley, who was just recently recovering from two overdoses in a single day. So we shifted our focus onto his story.
“One of our skills that sets us apart from other production companies is being able to integrate ourselves into a situation that was so fragile and had so much emotional baggage connected to it. Weaving through Jack’s recovery and Josh‘s deep distance from drugs, we were able to find where the story actually was. The most important thing for me was in Josh’s Drumset Confessional, not his band or his childhood drum background. We stripped down the story and spotlighted what Josh was doing for other people now that he recovered: saving peoples lives on a daily basis”
Josh continues his fight to help others overcome their addictions. We have been honored by the experience and truly stand by Josh’s message: There are tools out there to help battle addictions.
“Part of our appeal is being able to be in a room with people, feel what they’re feeling, and make them comfortable telling their story in front of a camera. It’s essentially ‘how do we have them forget the cameras are even there.’”
